An Evening with Ann Garrido was held via Zoom on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 6 p.m. Central Time (7 p.m. Eastern Time)
Women of the Church was thrilled to help launch Ann Garrido’s new book, Redeeming Power: Exercising the Gift as God Intended.
Ann is associate professor of homiletics at Aquinas Institute of Theology and a consultant with Triad Consulting Group, a conflict mediation and communications team. Her conversation partner was Kimberly Baker, PhD, faculty member at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. Participants had the opportunity to submit questions and comments which added great value to the discussion.
About the book:
Catholic theologian Ann M. Garrido—author of the award-winning books Redeeming Administration and Redeeming Conflict—continues her work on Christian leadership by examining power not as a manipulative force in short supply but as Jesus understood it: an abundant good meant to be shared and put to use for the sake of harmony and holiness.
In Redeeming Power, Garrido helps you develop a spirituality of power by considering the skills and personal qualities that will enable a healthy and holy use of power in your role as one who leads. Garrido explores key passages from the creation stories of Genesis where we find the roots of how Jesus understood power. She shows how God shares divine power with all humans and calls leaders to specific ways of exercising power that will benefit the people and institutions they serve.
You can purchase Redeeming Power from Ave Maria Press.
Be sure to check out Ann’s podcast, “Waking Up Goliath,” where she talks with ministry leaders about how they have wrestled with questions related to the healthy and holy use of power in their own leadership journeys.
